This year, TVERC continued to strengthen its role as a trusted hub for biodiversity data, supporting nature recovery, planning and decision-making across Oxfordshire and Berkshire. Growing engagement from partners, volunteers and local communities highlights the increasing importance of reliable evidence-based action for nature.
Highlights from 2025/26:
- 5.3 Million Species Records: Our database continues to grow, with over 353,000 records added this year, strengthening the evidence base for conservation and planning.
- Local Nature Recovery Strategies: The LNRS for Oxfordshire and Berkshire were published this year, with TVERC playing a key role in their development and delivery.
- Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG): We expanded our work supporting local authorities with habitat surveys, modelling and long-term management planning for biodiversity enhancement.
- Community Science & Engagement: Over 3,000 people took part in more than 30 events, including Noticing Nature sessions and City Nature Challenge activities.
- Recording Community: More than 2,250 recorders contributed data, with around 80% of records coming from volunteers.
- Local Wildlife Sites: Continued survey and monitoring work supports the protection and management of over 1,300 sites of high wildlife value.
- Projects & Data Services: We delivered 24 projects and completed 967 data searches to support planning, research and conservation work.
We’re proud of what has been achieved this year and grateful to our partners, volunteers and recorders who make this work possible. Together, we continue to build a stronger evidence base for nature recovery.
