City Nature Challenge 2025: Berkshire & Oxfordshire

Join us for our third City Nature Challenge in Berkshire and Oxfordshire!

The City Nature Challenge (CNC), a global wildlife recording event that started in America in 2016, is back for its 10th edition! This worldwide event, encourages participants to record as much wildlife as possible over 4 days using the iNaturalist app. TVERC is once again organising City Nature Challenge in Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Our goal is to promote wildlife recording across these two counties and inspire people to connect and noticing nature in their local green spaces, back gardens, nature reserves, and more.

Last year, over 150 people made more than 3,800 observations across both counties, with our former micro-intern Joss Carr ranking as the UK’s second top observer! This year, we need your help to do even better!

The City Nature Challenge will run from Friday 25th April- Monday 28th April 2025.

How to take part

Participating is simple and anyone can take part: whenever you spot any wildlife - from birds to bees, flowers to fungi, and everything in between—add the information to iNaturalist via the free app or website. Include a photo of the organism, and you'll receive ID suggestions from the app and recording community. Any observation made during the four days within Oxfordshire and Berkshire will count towards our total. For more information, visit citynaturechallenge.org.uk.
