Species Data Volunteer
As a species data volunteer, your typical tasks include:
- validating data to ensure accuracy
- creating digital maps using GIS tools
- preparing datasets for import into our Recorder 6 database
- sourcing ecological reports from local authority planning portals
GIS Habitats Data Volunteer
As a GIS habitats data volunteer, you may be involved in:
- data validation to make sure records contain accurate information
- digital mapping, using GIS
- extracting relevant information from provided survey reports.
Field Volunteer
As a field volunteer, you will usually do the following:
- conduct standard habitat and botanical surveys
- participate in surveys focused on specific species or taxonomic groups
Your personal development
You will have the opportunity to:
- learn about the collection, management and utilisation of biodiversity and geodiversity data
- develop skills in software applications like Excel and GIS
- expand your knowledge of local flora and fauna
- explore sites that may not be accessible to the public
- gain hands-on experience in recording and fieldwork
- work alongside enthusiastic and professional ecologists
- contribute to a valuable conservation resource
