Our approach to ecological survey reports for planning applications

We recommend the following approach to all planning authorities in Berkshire and Oxfordshire:

  1. Include TVERC data search: Ecology reports submitted with planning applications should include a search of our data.
  2. Exception: If the planning authority determines that the application will not impact biodiversity, this step may be omitted.

Visit our ecological survey reports for planning applications page.

"Being able to call on TVERC as a one-stop-shop repository for reliable species records and designated site information gives a high level of comfort that relevant background data are caught and accounted for early in impact assessment procedures. Without such data, the risk is always there of important information for records jumping out of the woodwork late in the day, which can result in significant and costly delays being caused to development projects."

Sharing your records with us

The high standard data collected by ecological consultants often includes protected and notable species. If we received all of this data, our database would be even more useful to you than it is now.

Our preferred method is for you to send us an Excel spreadsheet of your records at regular intervals. You can send data to us at any time of year. We continuously update our database.

Send us the data during one or two months of the year that suit your work programmes. We'll know when to expect it, and you can plan ahead.
